There is indeed an excellent book on hand colored prints, the catalogue for an exhibition that was on view at the Baltimore Museum of Art in 2002. There is a web version of the exhibition (would anyone like to review it for SHARP News?) at <http://www.artbma.org/exhibitions/online.html>. The catalogue was written by Susan Dackerman (now the print curator at Harvard's Fogg Museum) with an essay by Thomas Primeau. It's called Painted Prints: The Revelation of Color (Penn State Press, 2002).

List members still interested in colored prints will want also to consult the excellent catalog accompanying the exhibition 'Anatomie de la couleur: l'invention de l'estampe en couleurs' put on/published by the Bibliotheque nationale de France in 1996, which features learned notices by Maxime Preaud & essays by other scholars on this topic.
