Not a library story - but at a bookstore on Guam in the 1970s or 1980s I took a two volume set on African-American history, _Men of Color_, to the cashier - explaining to her that this set did not really belong in the photography section...

We had a problem (now corrected!) when automated authority control transformed any Shakespeare character name that happened also to be a place name into a Geographic heading. In other words, "Shakespeare, William, 1564-1616--Characters--Constance" became "Shakespeare, William, 1564-1616--Characters--Germany--Konstanz"

Also, a few years ago Amazon.com turned Niccolo Machiavelli into a Scotsman by the name of MacHiavelli (as a thank-you for pointing out the error, they sent an Amazon.com mug).

The LC subject heading "Holocaust, Jewish" rather startled me when I first came upon it. Mark it up to a careful cataloger hoping to provide for all future such events.

Not just a careful forward-looking cataloger, rather a careful and accurate
cataloger with a sense of history. The Armenian massacres of 1915 are most
often described (except by the Turks) as the first attempted genocide of the
20th century, but the events are sometimes called the Armenian Holocaust.
